40,000 kilometer Hyundai Getz tuneup
Today, December 23, I took my Hyundai Getz, Gina, to Hyundai Global City for her 40,000 kilometer tuneup. My service advisor for today was a fellow named Donn, and he was immensely helpful and polite in the absence of the usual SAs, Jay, Romeo, and Boying. After registering my Hyundai Getz in, I checked her in for the full tuneup. According to Donn, the 40,000 kilometer is the second major tuneup for any car in its lifetime. A lot of parts are replaced, usually including brake pads, aircon filter, and a slew of other stuff. (I’ll type it in later; I left the entire list in the Getz.)
Anyway, the point is, the car feels terrific now. The greatest improvement by far is the air-conditioner. It’s strong and cool again; #1 lang, malakas na. Can’t wait to see how my Hyundai Getz will perform at high noon; my gut says it’ll be better than before. I spent more money than I usually do – the price range is normally somewhere between Php9,000 and Php16,000, depending on the parts to be replaced – but it’s totally worth it.
Before going home, I had a conversation with a new friend who also has a Getz. (Shout-out to Randy, woot!) He has his car tuned-up at a different mechanic, which is certainly his right and call. Me, I prefer having mine done at the original casa. I just feel it’s better in the long-term, when people see that no one else’s hands touched the car expect those authorized by Hyundai, and our service passport shows we faithfully had tuneups done at Hyundai, it may be better for the resale value. Randy said, correctly, though, that’s so much more expensive. So pros and cons all around.
Kayo? For tuneups, do you go “original” or “casa/mekaniko/talyer?”

hi i’m from davao, i got my wife a 2nd hand 2008 getz last dec.i got it for a sweet deal, it’s mileage is still @ odo 12,300kms.I personally loved the ride of the hyundai getz and i’d go for casa all the way for my maintenance, first reason is warranty.. second is peace of mind… and lastly resale value..
Hi Ben! Your wife is a lucky lady to have such a money-savvy guy for a husband. Her Hyundai Getz should serve her well for years to come. You don’t have to stick with the casa, but I share your reasons as to why it’s best to stick with having it done in-house. Kudos to you, and welcome to the club of Getz owners!
Hello,
I just got my getz this September and I am pretty amazed with its performance. I am now on my 5,000kms, is that too fast for a 3 months old getz? Im getting insecure hehe. Anyhow, how much usually is the costings of its maintennance? for the casa. thank you
Hello, Mao! Thanks for emailing in. Congratulations on your new Getz!
No, from September 09 to January 10, that’s just about right (if not a little slow, haha). It depends on how far you travel more than how
long it takes. Sooner or later, we’ll get to 5,000 anyway.
I think I paid something like Php2,000 at my 5,000km checkup. (Based on my notes here.) The cost may have gone up a bit because it’s been more than a year ago, but most of your costs should still fall under warranty. You’ll be paying mostly for labor.
I hope you can make Life With Gina part of your regular browsing schedule.
hi
tanong ko lang. ksi 6000 n ung getz ko. how much kaya pa tune up? thanks!:)
Hi Trisha, dapat free ang Hyundai Getz checkup mo, but that’s free only until 5,000km. Lumampas ka, so you might not be able to claim the free checkup. I imagine, though, it’ll cost somewhere between Php3,000 to Php4,500. You can call 8180888 and ask the service department for an estimate before you come in.
hi ILove me car becues it is getz
