I ran into Glenn Ong‘s post here on LTO license plate verification, and I think that this is information you all should know about. Like Glenn says, iIt’s always a good idea to have information on your license plate available in case someone (e.g., some crooked person at the MMDA or city traffic enforcers) pulls you over, or should you wish to verify the status of a second-hand car you wish to purchase.

All you apparently have to do is type the keywords LTO(space)VEHICLE(space) then send it to 2600. I got the following response for my Hyundai Getz:
